The Luxury Shed is our largest standard model: a 20×10 ft office with 10 ft front walls, eight windows and a wide French door. The long layout leaves room for a large desk, a small meeting table and storage, so it works as a client-ready office, not just a place to take calls.
A row of clerestory windows brings in daylight from above while keeping your work private, and upgraded finishes make it feel like a real office a few steps from home.

Ideas for Your Luxury Backyard Office
Permits for a 200 sqft Backyard Office
In many Greater Seattle cities, a one-story detached backyard building of up to 200 sqft is exempt from a building permit, and the Luxury Shed is right at that limit. Seattle is stricter: there, only storage-type sheds up to 120 sqft of roof area are exempt, so an office needs a permit.
Electrical work always needs its own permit and inspection, and the building has to meet setback and height rules. We check the rules for your address, prepare what the city needs and handle the permits. More answers in our FAQ.

How big is the Luxury Shed?
The Luxury Shed has a 20×10 ft footprint (200 sqft) with 10 ft front walls. The long layout gives room for a large desk, a small meeting table for two or three people, and storage along the back wall.
How much natural light does it get?
A lot. It has four 48×36 in windows plus four upper clerestory windows (18×48 in), so daylight comes in from high and low without giving up privacy.
Can I use it all year?
Yes. It has R-19 insulated 2×6 walls, drywall and waterproof laminate flooring, so with heating and cooling it stays comfortable through every Pacific Northwest season.
Do I need a permit for a 200 sqft backyard office?
It depends on your city. Many Greater Seattle cities exempt one-story detached backyard buildings up to 200 sqft, and the Luxury Shed is right at that limit. Seattle is stricter and exempts only storage-type sheds up to 120 sqft of roof area, so an office there needs a permit. Electrical work always needs a permit.
